We’re asking for your feedback on our Annual Plan 2022-2023. We’re proposing changes to some of our key projects to ensure we can deliver them in a way that is affordable for our community.

Let's kōrero (talk)!

OVERVIEW

It’s been a year since we consulted with you on our Long Term Plan 2021 – 2031 and at the time we said there was uncertainty about how long COVID would continue to disrupt, the impacts, and what the recovery will require.

Our country and economy continue to be impacted, particularly when it comes to cost pressures, supply chain issues, and a tight labour market.

  • Inflation is currently running at 5.9%
  • The cost of goods and services has surged over the last year.
  • Fuel prices have increased by more than 30%
  • Labour shortages and supply chain slowdowns are adding delay and cost to everyday business.

All of this is creating an unpredictable landscape in terms of costs and the projects we can reliably deliver. We also need to make sure we can continue to provide the many essential services and activities for our city.

We need to carefully balance these external pressures with our key priorities.

So, we’re proposing to adjust our programme of work in the short term to ensure it still is affordable for our community.

And we want to hear what you think.

HAVE YOUR SAY

We’re delivering a consultation booklet to every residential address and PO Box in the city this month, it’s also available on this page. It outlines what we’re proposing.

Changes are being proposed for the following key projects:

  • Fixing Fergusson Drive
  • H2O Xtream upgrade
  • Civic Centre upgrade

We’re also asking for your feedback on an enclosed dog park in Upper Hutt, something we’re often asked about by our community, and about proposed changes to fees and charges for the coming year.

NEXT STEPS

  1. Read the Annual Plan 2022-2023 Consultation Booklet on this page (and delivered to your letterbox from 12 April), consider the options, then let’s kōrero, tell us what you think.

  2. Mayor Guppy and your elected members will also be out over the next month to talk with you about what’s being proposed. Check out the key community events on this page for all the details.
