Every three years we prepare a 10 year Long Term Plan. It covers how we'll manage and maintain our facilities, services and community assets, as well as our plans and proposals to enhance them.
We do this every three years to make sure our plan remains relevant, and best reflects the changing needs of our community.
Before we lock it in, we're keen to kōrero (talk) with you about what we're planning.
Our Consultation Document gives you an overview of what the plan will mean in terms of cost, and how the required spend is proposed to be met through rates, and debt (loans).
We encourage you to take some time to consider the options for the things we’re planning to invest in. It is important you know how we’ll pay for them.
Once you’ve done that, let's kōrero. Let us know what you think, give us your feedback below.
Or if you'd like to have a chat with your Councillors, come along to one of our events. You'll find a list of them on the right of this page.

In early 2020, we asked you what our priorities should be for the next 10 years through our Let's kōrero community engagement exercise.
Development
Consultation on the Long Term Plan 2021 - 2031 has finished this stage
Using the feedback from our Let's kōrero pre-engagement, and taking into account our strategic drivers and priorities for the next 10 years, Councillors have been working together through a series of workshops to develop our plans and proposals for the next 10 years.
Consultation
Consultation on the Long Term Plan 2021 - 2031 is currently at this stage
Before we lock in the Long Term Plan for 2021-2031, we want to get your feedback. It's really important that you understand what we're proposing, and most importantly, how we plan to pay for it. Each option has an impact on your rates, so take some time to consider how it might impact you and your whānau (family).
Hearings
this is an upcoming stage for Consultation on the Long Term Plan 2021 - 2031
You can present your submission in person at one of our public hearings without having made a submission through one of our official channels. We know this is particularly important for people who speak in NZ Sign Language.
If you have provided your feedback through one of our official channels, you can speak in support of your submission at a public hearing (between 11-12 May)if you would like to talk to Councillors about your feedback.
Deliberations
this is an upcoming stage for Consultation on the Long Term Plan 2021 - 2031
Councillors consider all the feedback received through submissions and hearings. Then they review the matters we've consulted with our community on and make a final decision.
Adoption
this is an upcoming stage for Consultation on the Long Term Plan 2021 - 2031
The Long Term Plan 2021 - 2031 is adopted by Council, and put into action.
